SITUATION -
As the twelve-year conflict between the Coalition of Sovereign Territories (COST) and the United Federal States (UFS) continues to ravage the United States, the state of New Mexico has emerged as a critical battleground. The region, particularly the area around Playas, has become a hotbed of activity not only for the warring factions but also for the La Losa Cartel, which exploits the chaos for its gain.
New Mexico's strategic importance cannot be overstated. Situated on the border between COST and UFS territories, it serves as a crucial passageway for drugs, ammunition, and weapons of war. The small town of Playas, in particular, has become a focal point for both sides, given its key location and the opportunities it provides for logistical support and supply routes.
The La Losa Cartel has thrived amid the conflict, using the instability to expand its operations. Playas has become a significant hub for the cartel, where they traffic drugs and weapons. The spoils of war have been looted repeatedly by cartel operatives, further complicating the situation for both COST and UFS forces. The cartel's presence adds another layer of danger and complexity to an already volatile region, as they remain neutral, benefiting from both sides without taking a definitive stance.
While much of the nation's attention has been focused on the eastern seaboard and central Georgia, recent UFS intelligence suggests a substantial movement of Coalition forces from Texas heading west. This appears to be a preparation for a significant counter-assault in the Playas area. In response, UFS forces are on high alert, monitoring the situation closely through local assets and intelligence operatives on the ground.
Adding to the tension is a noticeable increase in cartel activity. La Losa operatives have been moving more aggressively in the region, likely capitalizing on the impending military engagement between COST and UFS forces. The exact reasons for this surge remain unclear, but UFS intelligence is working to gather more information from embedded assets.
