A Seller’s Guide to Shipping
Just thought I’d post this, because as a buyer I see a lot of people struggling on the shipping aspect of things. Hope it helps!
1. Flat Rate boxes are your friend! Unless you are shipping the same product over and over and over again, and know the dimensions of your product and weight of your product like the back of your hand, flat rate shipping boxes are great. I personally use USPS Flat Rate Boxes, and I’ve never had a problem with them, or with them arriving late.
2. Pirate ship! Pirate ship is a online service that allows you to make labels, and will automatically find the best deal for you when you enter your package dimensions. It also Innoway it’s like honey, and it pulls any shipping coupons in cans and applies them to find out what will be the best deal for you. Anything I don’t flat rate ship, I use them, and you can print out a label and slap it on and even have them pick it up from your house if you’re super busy like I am.
3. Smaller items. Smaller items such as patches and stickers, and even small things like thread adapters or Allen keys can be shipped in envelopes. I looked up the shipping rules and the only thing is that the postage hast to cover it, and it can’t be loose. So what I do is I wrap a piece of paper around all the items in the envelope, and when the post office fills it, they feel one big paper stack, when in reality it’s airsoft stuff
4. Never till the post office if it is a gun. I know this might be illegal, but airsoft guns are pretty weird in the sense that they have a lot of weird regulations about how much FPS it shoots, orange tip mandates, and others. I always tell my shipping company that it is airsoft accessories, and if they ask anymore, I tell them it’s a bipod or hand group, just because those are plastic, and don’t need to be temperature controlled or regulated in anyway.
5. How to ship your items. If you are shipping your items in a flat rate shipping price, you can pick them up from the post office, or have them delivered to your house for no charge. If you are not shipping your gun in a case, i’d suggest splitting the upper and lower receivers, and even the stock if it’s a long gun, and putting padding or wrapping each in protective material. A lot of people just throw their guns and stuff inside the package, and when they bump and neck each other, along with the wear and tear of it being shipped across the country, it can sometimes damage or even completely break items you paid for. It doesn’t cost any extra money, every time you get an Amazon package, or other delivery, just keep the bubble wrap or felt it was packaged in. I myself do this, and wrap each piece and felt so they don’t Nick each other and then put in bubble wrap to fill any loose Space so they do not hit each other or move around too much while shipping,
6. If you run into any trouble is, or unable to ship for some reason, contact the buyer immediately and keep them updated. It’s the worst feeling when you’ve bought a gun from someone and you ask him for tracking and they said they couldn’t get it out that day, and then ghost you for another four days, and by that time you’ve already started a dispute or refund with PayPal or hop up. Most people get it, everyone runs into troubles occasionally, and you don’t have to be ashamed about it, this happens to everyone. If something comes up just say “hey buyer, I’m sorry I couldn’t get this out today, I’ll be sure to get it (enter day here), I’ll keep you updated🙂”. It seems like such a simple concept I know, but you don’t know how many times I’ve paid for something on the app, and have no idea how shipping is going because the buyer will not answer my messages, just to find out, he shipped days ago
All in all, I saw a ton of people making guides, and I thought it would be interesting to make one myself, and I know shipping is something a lot of people are confused about, or aren’t doing in the most efficient way possible, so I thought to save y’all a bit of cash, I’d make this to show you the easiest way to ship your airsoft items
I want to say thank you to Colbey Warren. Without him, I wouldn’t have been able to get some amazing deals, and enjoy the app we all love so much, so thank you and the rest of the HopUp team!
