Buying and selling 101: 10 Rulez of HopUp dealing and how to no be bamboozled
//UPDATE//
I caught a scammer in the act literally scrolling so here’s an example of one and the actual post of the guy who owns it. Second pic is the real owner notice the price difference.
Just a repost because apparently people still aren’t following directions and my post get buried in the several scammer reveal posts
1. Only trade if it’s in person or with someone you’ve done business with.
2. Check vouchers. Don’t ask for vouchers they should be earned by buying selling and trading.
3. Never use Venmo Zelle or cash app. Only use HopUp and PayPal business/ goods and service.
4. If using any apps other than those preferred do it in person when you see the item in question.
5. Report scammers. Vouchers and pfp are a big indicator. They usually steal posts and sell items at extremely low values. A polarstar at its cheapest is $400 and above for the most part. Upgraded guns will almost always cost $500 and above. No one wants to move items that will loose them money. Also if it’s priced low it may be too good to be true.
6. Ask for more info. Always good to do so
7. Haggle. Money is money and it talks a funny language.
8. Always send shipping info. Send a pic of the tracking to prove it was shipped.
9. If trading long distance, have lower voucher ship first or you can buy each other’s items and refund later. I personally don’t do that because I’m broke like 90% of the time.
10. SAFETY. Be safe it’s not worth your life. Go to well lit areas, airsoft fields etc. not someone’s house. If you can help it. Even down the street is better than someone’s house. Also please use gun bags don’t walk outside with a airsoft gun especially when you don’t have orange tips.
If you’ve gotten this far you get a metaphorical cookie. Jokes aside here’s how to catch scammers.
To catch a scammer you’ll find 3 things wrong.
1. Severely under priced. Like GHK AK for $200 or Polarstars for $200
They do this so they can trick people into thinking they are trying to get rid of this. In reality everyone wants to make money not loose it.
2. They always say they are trying to get rid of gear.
They constantly state they have financial, family, schools etc. After IP checking one of them they usually come from either a US proxy or they are from overseas.
3. They always steal domes post.
They take peoples pics and vids hoping not to get caught anyone under 10 vouchers check if they took the posts or challenge them
And for those scammers who read this post because all of you now have profile pics. I’m going to start tracking you down and finding you
