Action Army AAP-01 Buyer Beware
Having bought 2 AAP-01’s in the past month and selling one of them, I have noticed some quarks and some major issues that you may experience if you buy and use an Action Army AAP-01.
The holster:
The CMT or 6mm import version of the quick draw holster is not good for the price. For $30+, you get a mess of 3D printed plastic and springs. When the holster is not used with a safariland belt mount and the molle clip is used on the belt, it is possible to break the holster while crouching. I may attempt to rebuild the holster when I get the time, but just be forewarned about that. A good alternative for the same price is 5e Cytac Mega-Fit holster. When adjusted, it fits the AAP-01 and it can be angled for a personalized draw.
The HopUp:
On Action Amy’s Facebook page, they announced that when you get your pistol, the HopUp will be “relaxed all the way”. Translating that from chinglish, the HopUp will be off when shipped and must be turned on. If this isn’t done, then your bb will just roll out if the barrel. This one almost got me when I got my first AAP-01.
There is 1 imposter among us:
So there is a fiasco going on where the orange tip for the AAP from a certain warehouse or distributor in Asia is 3D printing tips and super gluing them onto the pistol. It’s really ugly and isn’t the “official” tip as it can not be removed easily. Also, this ugly tip version does not come with the rails promised in the packaging and is not ASG branded. ASG is the “official” importer. Most of the ugly AAP’s were sold via Evike. You can get the correct tip version from Red Wolf as an import but it doesn’t come with rails for some reason. However, I can’t speak for other shops.
(Update)
Airsoft Atlanta got a batch from Taiwan (the real China) and it has these tips. The only place they could have got it was Airsoft Taiwan. If you order from either or, you will get the ugly version.
The mag:
You can use any G17 mag in this gun and it will work. You can also use the mag for an EF G17/18/19/19x and possibly We-tech, but I haven’t tried it. For the KJW glocks, it will not work. Tapp airsoft’s glock mags work in this gun along with the aw customs drum mags. From experience, when filling the mag with green gas, the mag leaks while filling when it is full. It does not leak after removing the green gas nozzle.
Those are the only issues I know about rn, but feel free to tell us about your encountered issues.
