Now it should be no surprise to the users on here that this platform is 100% user driven. Airsoft is generally on the smaller end against much larger hobbies out there. That being said the number of users here is barely a fourth of that number. When I first joined HopUp it was still growing by the day with numerous people joining ever week. Growing in deals and collecting vouchers I’ve been able to understand the ins and out the app as well as conducting business deals. This app is here to conduct business and interconnect individuals throughout the United States. What it should not be doing is collecting information and forcing users into one way of doing things. Airsoft itself is an expression of ones nature in a way. Colbey you yourself enjoy milsim while others enjoy speedsoft or like myself it’s a casual outing on the weekend with friends. We tailor our guns to our needs and equipment to our individual likings. How can an app that promotes an game of freedom of choice turn around and punish the community of HopUp to bankroll yourself. Now everyone wants to own their own business and make lots of money. Capitalism isn’t the issue I’m attacking here it’s the way you’ve gone about it. Dictionary.com states that a Business: the purchase and sale of goods in an attempt to make a profit. A person, partnership, or corporation engaged in commerce, manufacturing, or a service; profit-seeking enterprise or concern. Now going by definition you only offer us a service not any type of physical product however unlike a TV show or a service where they are producing multiple different products you only have one product. HopUp is your product which allows users to freely buy/sell/trade equipment. You also charge users an optional premium fee that gives premium users more benefits than the standard users. As a community site it is impossible for you to charge every user the way you do without major community backlash. I appreciate you guys understanding there is a problem but the issue is you’re way of fixing your own problems is throwing gas on a growing fire. I’ve been writing everyday and you’ve responded to only one of my posts that didn’t even address my primary issue. You danced around the problem because you know you don’t have an interest in taking the problem down. This whole problem started when you tried to combat scammers on the platform and introduced your own way to pay on the app. That’s all good and fine but where you went wrong was your 10% fee. As a user on the platform long before that feature was even added I was smart enough to know use PayPal Goods and Services. What you should of done is promotes PayPal or some other service that offers protection. Stripe the company you use charges 3%. That’s totally fine and honestly that’s better than PayPal but where the line was drawn is when the total fee was 10%. That’s literally California’s sales tax. I already get enough money stolen from me trying to survive I don’t need it happening on a platform where I conduct business. Like in my previous post talking about your ratios of percentage fee it further added to the point that you were trying to nickel and dime the users of their sales. There already was a better system in place and instead of trying to match them as close as possible you shot for a whole 5% higher. You decided to ask your community of airsofters to pay a 10% fee where people were already comfortable with dealing with a 5% fee which still adds up on big purchases. As stated in previous posts I feel you are disconnected with your user base. Colbey it’s pretty obvious you have more money than the average airsofter as milsim events are pretty expensive. On top of that you have an app that makes you money. However you fail to realize that most of us are high school to college students with a 20% margin for other. When you instituted the 10% fee on top of people who paid for premium monthly it made users feel uneasy as now we have to pay more money on top of shipping. I myself was extremely apprehensive to the fee as I was already using a system that offered everything yours claimed to and used a lower fee. Then your response to the lack of use in your system was to make it the only system. Then when the vast majority spoke out you ignored it, then people wrote in their posts to only use PayPal and inquire more info you censored us. Then when people would accidentally buy through your system and we did not want to do that and hit refund you instituted a fee wall requiring debit cards to use basic features. 2020 was a hard year for a lot of people but it was the absolute worst year on this app. You’re updates attacked the community with no thought on their opinions. It’s August 2021 and only now you realized 10% was a problem. Then you banned users with massive influence like John G. People you knew held some sway. The only good thing to come out of your recent updates is this forum. The medium you ignore because it’s not in your best interest when hundreds of users agree that HopUp is its own worst enemy. In my professional opinion you need to cease taxing operations that destroyed your app in the first place. You need to remove the debit card paywall you added because for the sole purpose of covering your own skin. You decided to use stripe and we the people should not be punished for your decisions. The fact that you copy pasted an answer on my first post and did the same to others shows me your lack of care for the community and understanding of our concern. HopUp is on the chopping block and it will not survive more than 2 years if it continues to follow the route it is on. Competitors are rising up against you. It’s only a matter of time... You’re obedient servant, G. Hal
